My topic is acid rain. Acid rain falls when sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxide is released in to the air.

Power plants release majority of sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxide when they burn fossil fuels, such as coal to produce electricity, exhaust from cars, trucks and buses also release these pollutants which cause acid rain.

Acid rain can cause diseases like asthma and chronic bronchitis which will make it harder to breathe.

Congress passed a law called the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990, and this law said that EPA should start the Acid Rain Program. The goal of the program was to achieve significant environmental and public health benefits through reductions in emissions of sulphur dioxide (SO₂) and nitrogen oxides (NO_x).

To reduce acid rain I will turn off all electrical appliances when not in use and take public transport.
